God’s Tomorrow — or — Man’s “Tomorrowland”?

Is God’s Tomorrow for our future only a dream? With nature’s unfriendly threatening of hurricanes, famine, tsunamis…man’s greed for caring or sharing...and technology now making possible self-annihilation—is there any real future for mankind on our planet earth?

Global hunger kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five—3.1 million children each year (http://www.wfp.org/hunger/stats).

Families struggling with chronic food insecurity, hunger and malnutrition don’t consistently have the food their brains and bodies need to grow and function. Mal-development of mind and body then prevents having the resources to improve their lives. It’s a perilous cycle that passes hunger from one generation to the next. Many desperate refugees from Africa and the Middle East continue to migrate to Europe. But, “Since January, an estimated 1,750 migrants have drowned trying to reach Europe via boat….To maximize their profits, smugglers pack masses of migrants into cheap, barely seaworthy boats. In last week’s tragedy, the 900 migrants were crammed into a 66-foot wood fishing boat. When too many passengers lean on one side of those ramshackle vessels, they capsize” (THE WEEK, May 8, 2015).
According to The Economist (May 2, 2015), regarding the control of drug trafficking, “The wars against illegal drugs “don’t work.” In fact, there is “…a global market worth roughly $300 billion annually.” More violence and corruption—more HIV/AIDS—lies ahead for those who want the “high” they get, but in reality they are slaves hurting themselves. As a result, many can only imagine the worst future—a post-apocalyptic “Dystopia”!

A Better World?

Recently a movie came out about dreamers—although threatened by audio-animatronic robots—who are transported to another “dimension” of “a better world”—called “Tomorrowland.” Evidently, the screenwriter of the film—who has worked on projects with his own dark view of the world—wanted to tell a story with hope of some sort of a coming “shining city.”  Indeed, our groaning creation has seen thousands of years pass while waiting for something better not knowing how or when it could possibly come.
The Biblical perspective promises a wonderful future: “But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13). However, what all are waiting for—they will only know when it actually, finally comes!

Human Creation—Not Robots.

But why did our great God of Creation have to permit so much evil in the world for so long? Has He been helpless to stop it? First of all, He created man “in his own image,” not as a robot with no ability to make choices, but with Free Will. So with a small, but important test in the Garden of Eden, God permitted our first parents to make a choice—for obedience or rebellion. Adam was warned if he disobeyed, he would “surely die (Genesis 2:17). But Satan used a serpent to deceive Adam through his wife, Eve, “And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die” (Genesis 3:4).

Now, whom has Adam’s posterity believed? From earliest civilizations, all sorts of theories of belief about living after one dies have flourished. Satan’s lie has been believed—and repeated continually! From the ancient Mesopotamian beliefs of a Netherworld to the popular so-called Christian tradition of immediate Heaven, Purgatory or Hell for everybody—the basic lie of Satan has been propagated. “You surely will not die…you will be like God” (Genesis 3:4, 5). These traditional teachings hinge on the non-Biblical concept of inherent immortality.

Notwithstanding the struggles, mankind has been learning and experiencing the evil consequences of sin—generation after generation, civilization by civilization. As a result, when all people are raised from the dead in God’s Kingdom, they will have had hands-on experience with the consequences of disobedience. But with Satan bound, the vast majority of mankind will be able to make the better choices and progress on a righteous “Highway of Holiness” (Isaiah 35). The way will be open and stumbling “stones” will be removed (Isaiah 57:14). Passage then will be easier than the “Narrow Way” to life of the Christian Age (Matthew 7:14). There will be “no lion” like Satan on that Highway (Isaiah 35:9; 1 Peter 5:8). God’s Plan of the Ages will be very successful!

God’s Kingdom Misrepresented

Throughout the centuries, many “Christians” have misrepresented God and His Plan. Instead of waiting for Jesus Christ to return and set up his Kingdom—they decided to illicitly bond (marry) some of the “kings of the earth” and create their own kingdom--Christendom (Revelation 17:2, 18; 18:9).
In Christ’s Name unfaithful church leaders misrepresented God’s plan (and character!) by teaching an eternal burning hellfire. The Bible was not allowed to be studied—because everything was just a “mystery.” Then to “help God,” many called “heretics” who refused to support those systems—with the cooperation of beastly governments—were literally burned to death as “martyrs” (Revelation 17:1-7).

Sons of God to Bless the Whole World

Yes, the whole groaning creation will be ultimately blessed in God’s time through the “sons of God.” Under Jesus’ ruler-ship with his faithful Bride—“creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God” (Romans 8:21). Those will truly be wonderful conditions in God’s Kingdom. Why? Satan, “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4), will then be fully bound “to deceive the nations no more” (Revelation 20:1-3).
Preparation of the Sons of God.

In the meantime, the Devil continues to be an “adversary” to every person, especially Christians (1 Peter 5:8). In addition to that challenge, there is a continual internal war with the Christian’s own flesh! Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy to wage a “good warfare” against his flesh by “holding faith”—not as “some having put away faith have made shipwreck” (1 Timothy 1:18-19).

Those Christians who will be “faithful till death” (Revelation 2:10) must “overcome the world” even as Jesus did (John 16:33)—but also their own flesh and the devil.

Blessings for All in God’s Kingdom

The judgment and casting off of Christendom (the kingdom of the “mother of harlots”) was prophesied to occur at Jesus’ return (see Revelation 13, 17 &  18). Those blinded Christians in her, however, will have opportunity to be freed, “Come out of her, my people” (Revelation 18:4). Whether directly—or indirectly—all people will have opportunity to benefit by seeing and knowing the consequences of sin. The permission of evil will have been a serious learning experience for all mankind.

The “Day of Judgment” of the Kingdom of God is not just a sentencing time—but a time of trial. The word “judgment” (Greek, krisis) means a crisis time, a time of probation with a “decision either for or against.” Depending on genetic or environmental handicaps—responsibility for wrong doing will vary. But, as Jesus said, “Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36).

Because people are not robots, they will then go forward in God’s Kingdom being rewarded for making positive choices. Certainly, some will have it easier—or harder—than others. Mahatma Gandhi—who never knew or accepted Jesus Christ but did so much good for mankind helping the poor at much personal cost—will have opportunity for life in this Kingdom.
On the other hand, the characters of those who consistently did wrong or hurt others will have it more difficult in recovering. There will be a lot of apologizing and showing of real repentance by doing good to all.

A Final Test at End of the Millennium

Still, some will have only outwardly conformed to the Kingdom rule of righteousness. They would not be hurting anyone. . .

But neither will they have shown active love for their fellowman—the Law of God’s Kingdom. The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 25)—when the Church as judging the world with Jesus—reveals how the “Goats” have not hurt anybody but only failed to show love to others. They will not be able to earn eternal life because their true characters will be exposed at the end of the 1000-year Millennium when Satan, who had been bound, will be loosed “a little season.” Then all those blessed of the world—as numbered “like the sand of the seashore” promised to Abraham in Genesis—will be finally tested (Genesis 22:17; Revelation 20:7-9).

The Shining City of the New Jerusalem

The Bride of Christ will also be the city of the “New Jerusalem coming down from God out heaven…. And the city had no need of the sun…for the glory of God did lighten it and the Lamb is the light thereof…” (Revelation 21:2, 23). Finally, for the eternity of God’s real Tomorrow, each restored person of earth will be as a “king” adding more glory to the glorious Kingdom City of eternity. “The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it” (Revelation 21:24-25).

But for now, people everywhere are fearful. They speak about Armageddon with great fear—but they do not realize that the Day of God’s judgments is designed to level the playing field, end corruption and all evils that have harmed humanity. Good people are urged by the prophet to “seek meekness, seek righteousness” (Zephaniah 2:3). The free booklet, After Armageddon—God’s Kingdom, clearly shows that the scriptures verify that the daily prayer “Thy Kingdom Come” is a reality ready to happen. Our hopes in God’s promises are not “somewhere over the rainbow,” rather they are wonderful blessings just ahead, and they are for all.
