Whose Land?

History confirms that Jews lived in their land virtually uninterrupted for 1,700 years until Rome destroyed Israel’s polity in AD 70 and again in AD 135. Archaeologists discovered the famous Merneptah Stele. It describes an attack on ancient Israel by Egypt in about 1210 BC. What an incredible confirmation of Israel’s ancient presence in their land. Josephus, the Roman Emperor’s official historian, observed that four to seven million Jews still dwelt in ancient Israel as late as AD 70.

Then Roman slaughter and expulsion decimated the Jewish inhabitants. Over the centuries Christian, Persian, Arab, Crusader, and Mameluke armies occupied the Holy Land and each ruled temporarily. But still some Jews clung to their land. Jews have been the only continuous people in the Holy Land for about 3,600 years.

Arabs ruled the Holy Land for only 22 years during the period AD 633-1099, but the noted historian Ibn Khaldun observed that even as late as AD 1400 the land was still permeated with Jewish culture. Over 300 years after the 22 year Arab rule ended, there was still no evidence of Arab roots or established culture. Thus, Khaldun, the venerable Arab historian, denies the false claim of an uninterrupted Arab/Palestinian culture dating back to AD 636.

James William Parkes, in his acclaimed book Whose Land? A History of the Peoples of Palestine, observed, “It is not until the Turkish period (AD 1517-1917) that in the ethnic sense the Holy Land acquired a substantial Arab, but not majority, Arab population.” How so? By immigration. But, during this same time (AD 1561) Sultan Suleiman, a Moslem, granted Joseph Nasi, a Jew, the right to found the “kernel of a Jewish state” in Tiberius (and seven other villages) surrounded by a wall. Then thousands of Jews returned to their land in a wave of Messianic fervor.

Then by the 1700s and 1800s, noted travelers observed the Holy Land had become a barren waste lacking a “body of population.” Finally the Scriptural ingathering of Jewish exiles began. (Jeremiah 16:14-15) Now surrounding Arabs hoped to benefit from the Jewish economy. Both British Prime Minister McDonald and President Roosevelt confirmed that this was the reason for the Arab immigration since 1918. The flood continued until 1948. Some writers observed 75% of the population after 1882 was Arab immigrants into the Holy Land. (Justice for My People, by Ernst Frankenstein, 1945, p.130.) Note this well. It was only after 1882 that Arabs flooded into the now thriving Jewish culture to attain a better life.

Israel Reborn

The Jewish People were promised a Jewish State in 1918 by England. But then young Churchill in 1922 chopped off 75% of the land promised. Finally in 1948 the UN recognized the new truncated Israeli State. Then the highly trained armies of five Arab nations attacked the infant nation. Israel’s rag-tag army miraculously defeated them.

Jews from “the Land of the North”

For decades students of prophecy based on Jeremiah 16:14,15 expected a large number of Jews from Russia, the “land of the North,” to go to Israel. In March of 1993 Russia was forced by world pressure to let their Jews immigrate to Israel.

That same month in a meeting with Prime Minister Rabin of Israel this writer mentioned that on the basis of Bible prophecy in the next 10 years one million Jews from Russia would immigrate to Israel. He laughed and said, “If we get 200,000 we will be doing very good!” About five months later in a speech Rabin said that when re-elected he was going to turn Israel’s economy around so they could absorb a million Russian Jews in the next 10 years! It happened. By 1997/98 over a million Russian Jews had immigrated to Israel in fulfilment of Bible prophecy!

Counterfeit Palestinians

Zuheir Muhsein, the Military Dept. head of the PLO told the Dutch daily.newspaper Trouw, that “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel... Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people...to oppose Zionism.”

Bible Students and the Jewish People

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people,
 saith your God.”
Isaiah 40:2

Remember the Jewish People violated their covenant with God. This marked the closing of their period of favor. Isaiah 40:2; Jeremiah 16:18; Zechariah 9:12. During their following period of disfavor Jews were crucified by the thousands, hunted and slaughtered, leaving a footprint of blood everywhere they fled. Bible Students believe that their disfavor and that Christians are now to comfort the Jewish people with the message of Isaiah 40:1,2 and warn others against anti-Semitism.

Bible Students take very seriously this admonition and they have had the privilege of being in the offices of six Israeli Prime Ministers presenting Israel’s Biblical place in God’s plan. Prime Minister Menachem Begin was very appreciative of the Bible Student booklet, “The Time to Favor Zion Has Come.” In Jerusalem before an audience of over 1,200, including Israeli officials, this comfort message including Israel’s Biblical place in God’s plan was presented. Also, over the years in meetings with various Israeli officials God’s plan for Israel has been explained.

“Fishers and Hunters”—Jeremiah 16:14-16

The year 2014 has been a record year for immigration of Jews to Israel. It was a 32% increase over last year and a 10-year high. We are living in the End Times when the Lord wants all the Jews to return to their land Israel. Jeremiah 16 reveals that first God would send “fishers” to entice Jews with the ideal of Zionism to return to their land. If this failed, then God would permit “hunters” persecution to drive Jews back to the Promised Land. Persecution of Jews is at an all-time high in Europe since the days of Hitler. In the last two years a quarter of the Jews in Britain have considered leaving the country. Anti-Semitic incidents in Scotland have soared by more than 300% in the last year. In Sweden threats against Jews doubled. Jewish leaders are predicting that within 15 years all Jews will have left Europe.

France has the largest Jewish population in Europe. But brazen anti-Semitism has sent French Jews racing to Israel. “Aliyah” means “ascent” or immigration of Jews to Israel. The Jewish agency estimated that more than 5,000 French Jews — 1% of the community — migrated to Israel in 2014, compared with 3,289 in 2013 and 1,917 in 2012.

With the recent Jewish blood bath in France by the ISIS “hunters,” the Aliyah of 15,000 Jews is expected this year. With the surge of anti-Semitic “hunters” in the Ukraine in 2014, 5,820 Jews fled to Israel, Also, the “fishers” are still working. In 2014 Aliyah from Russia rose by 50% reaching 11,430. Aliyah from the US reached 3,470, an 8% increase from 2013.

“Outside the Box”

U.S. and world scientists and engineers, dressed in their white coats and ties, solve problems by applying established laws of science, and they might conclude that a certain project cannot be accomplished because it violates certain established laws of science.

Whereas, Israeli scientists and engineers are a successful breed of non-conformists dressed in T-shirts and blue jeans. They take the same problems, especially those that they feel are critical to mankind’s well-being, and work “outside the box” of established laws of science. They find exceptions or even prove that a particular law of science was wrong. Why? To prove Israeli intelligence? No, they are driven “by the desire to improve the health and well-being of all the human race.” For example, the granddaughter of Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas terrorist leader in Gaza, had undergone free treatment at an Israeli hospital, just weeks after the 50-day war between Israel and Haniyeh’s comrades, the Palestinian Islamists. Helping enemies in medical need is a common humane practice in Israel.

Europe is Fast Abandoning Israel

European governments are rapidly turning against Israel. Last October Sweden officially recognized a Palestinian State. Since then, the parliaments of Britain, France, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, and Luxembourg have voted in support of recognizing a Palestinian State. The EU voted to recognize a Palestinian State “in principle.”

But despite everything, Biblically speaking, Israel is here to stay. Israel, the world’s only advanced nation experiencing continual terrorism, is here to stay. As we read about Jews being killed by Palestinian terror in Israel, we might think Israel is a dangerous place to live. But, American Jews living in Israel assert it is safer to live in Israel than the crime ridden streets in the U.S. Why? There is less criminal violence in Israel.

All Nations Except The United States Have Forsaken Israel

President Obama has signed into law the 2014 United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act. It declares Israel a “major strategic partner” of the United States and assures Washington’s “unwavering support” for Israel as a Jewish state.

This legislation orders the expansion of U.S. weapons stockpiled in Israel by some $200 million in value, to a total of $1.8 billion. WHY? So that the U.S. will be better prepared to deal with any volatile situation in the Middle East. Israel is finally recognized as the U.S.’ front line of defense against Russia, ISIS or a combination of Arab States attempting to take over the Middle East. Evidently U.S. government leaders are expecting the worse. Already ISIS has killed huge numbers,  of Christians, Muslims and others in grotesque ways.

President Obama knows that Israel is the only Middle East nation that can stop ISIS. Israel’s “think-out-of-the-box” scientists and engineers created the incredible Iron Dome and now “swarmware.” Upgrading Israel’s Iron Dome with swarmware will make Israel more impregnable to ISIS rockets. Yes, Obama has made Israel the U.S. protector of the Middle East.

Whether it is Israel’s next war or five wars down the line, Psalm 83 details a war in which Israel will defeat all the Arab nations including ISIS and Hezbollah and expand her borders before Russia’s invasion of Israel in Ezekiel 38 and 39, which battle the LORD will win for Israel.

Bible Student Message to the Jewish People

The eminent Rabbi Hanan Porat (10,000 attended his funeral) used the Hebrew text of Psalm 126 to prove that it was the Bible Student writings back in the 1880s and onward that taught the Jewish people, both in diaspora and in the Land of Israel, God’s wonderful purpose for the Jewish people in the land of Israel. He said “We appreciate so much what the Bible Students are doing for us.”

In 1881 a plan for gradually establishing a Jewish State in the Holy Land was proposed to Barons Rothschild and Hirsch by a Bible Student. In 1910 Jewish leaders in New York invited a prominent Bible Student to address over 5,000 Jews in the Hippodrome Theatre on “Zionism in Prophecy.” Between 1912 and 1915 Bible Students conducted a worldwide campaign, especially to the heavily Jewish populated Eastern Europe. A Scriptural message to the Jewish People was printed in the pamphlet Die Stimme, which means—“awake the voice is calling.” Over a million copies were circulated to the Jewish People. Yes, God was and still is calling the Jewish people to return to their homeland, Israel.

While Jerusalem will be the capital of Christ’s Kingdom (Isaiah 2:3), Revelation 20:6 teaches that the faithful Christians will live and reign with Christ over Israel and mankind during Christ’s Kingdom.
